Does anyone else have the same experience with the Albion hat and wet weather? Obviously this is a part of the specification Albion do not have to worry about as much!!!!
I wore mine yesterday for its first outing. The weather had turned very good (hot & sunny) so it was welcome. I thought it worked very well. It kept my head cool (and that was needed for other reasons as well), sun out of my eyes. I think the added benefit is that I will not need sun block on my face which inevitably gets on to my spectacles

I have reordered my new hat as I think they are excellent, this time though if the weather looks like it may turn to rain I will leave it firmly in my bag

God I really must be sad. I looked at this as well when I was buying hats. I nearly went with one but to be honest I've got enough hats. With the Tiley one I quite liked the look of the one with the mesh at the top. Especially good for those hot days I thought. But as swerveman says I was a little unsure about the colour. Although from the sounds of it it looks ok after a few washes. John let us know what you think of the hat when you get it. Like I said I think it's really good. I should also have said, it seems to be water proof (or water resitant, well doesn't soak the water up!) so it goes quite nicely with a blouson coat when it's raining. Also it's got SPF 50+ so you shouldn't burn your head on it. Really a super hat. Does anyone else have the same experience with the Albion hat and wet weather? Obviously this is a part of the specification Albion do not have to worry about as much!!!! I wore mine yesterday for its first outing. I think the added benefit is that I will not need sun block on my face which inevitably gets on to my spectacles This was the reply I got from Albion "Hi John, Sorry we don’t have any rain over here mate…. Only kidding, I am an ex pom here and yes it does rain. I do not recommend wearing the hat in the rain, maybe you could purchase a hat cover. I think I have seen the police men wear them over their hats. ( I don’t know where you would buy them though). To clean the hat you should only spot clean. I hope I have helped a little." So I will now buy either an REO or Tilly for the inclement weather. Apart from ebay is there anywhere I can get the REO hat from?

Well I got my REO hat from Australia about 18 months ago, but with the postage it came to about £25, which is more than the cost that they are selling them for on Ebay. I've not come across a seller of the hats in this country (apart from the one on Ebay). I've been interested about people's experiences with the Albion hat is wet weather, as I had always got the impression is was quite good in wet weather (however I've not worn it in anything too wet!). With regards to hat covers, and also hats in general the best place I found to see a good selection is Australian Bowls shops! There are quite a few who have websites, so it's worth having a look. They sell hat covers over there although I'm sure you could find something similar in this country. www.fredfern.com/index.cgi?tmpl=item&action=View&categoryid_item=2

A message for Wisden17 Could you post the details for the Ray Julian blouson. I stood with Ray a year ago and have misplaced his details that he kindly gave to me. I would like to know how to get hold of the ECBACO coats. Their merchandise section on the ECB site doesn't indicate their availability yet. Until I see them I shall continue to wear my ACU&S badge and tie with pride.

Hi, I own a sportwear business and we currently supply a couple of the first class counties with their teamwear requirements.
I met with a first class umpire and ICC umpire last week to discuss producing a range of specific umpires clothing and we would be keen to market this range to all ECBOA members once it is ready.
Can I ask any interested members garments you would like to see included in the range that we produce? and what features should be included within these garments i.e zip pockets etc?
If I can get some feedback and add this to the thoughts of the professionals then we should produce a universally popular range of practical garments!
I look forward to your comments.

Dodge, what about the ECB clothing range, or have you been approached to produce the kit?

Please can someone advise me where I can get one of these umpires fleeces / waterproofs? I have recently qualified as an umpire and although I have seen them I have not found out where to buy one.

I spoke to them last week and they will start selling to individuals very shortly via their internet site.

That could be interesting. I've heard today that the ECB ACO clothing I ordered on 20th April has now been despatched. It'll be nice to compare it with the Signature range.
Our panel has arranged a supply of personalised white pocket polo shirts, with the panel logo. They look quite smart.

The latest ECB ACO blousons are available from www.ecbacoshop.co.uk/productsffs.asp?subcat=127 They are available in both summer and winter weight and have an excellent number of zipped pockets. Also shirts and sweaters. It's no secret - Duncan Fearnley have had them for several weeks but no-one I have spoken to seemed to know! Please tell them that Acumen told you!Meanwhile, Acumen are still selling ball gauges, lever counters, bails, markers and most of the other equipment you may find useful. It's a pity that they don't offer any clothing for Scorers, unlike the items that the ACUS did. I don't always score for my clubs (when I wear their "official" gear), and would welcome some polo shirts with the official logo on them. but
