Game situation: The fielder at the boundary catches a ball with his cap in hand while his foot was on the rope. The batsmen have not attempted a run. What will prevail? The Boundary 6 or the 5-run penalty? If so, why? Or both, thus resulting in an addition of 11 runs to the score? Followed, of course, by penal action & one extra ball.

You answer lies in Law 28.2.3: – boundary 6 counts – plus 5 penalty runs – and the ball does not count
