I am lucky enough to score in Kent League Division 1 where, so far this season, all teams have provided a scorer. The Laws of Cricket were amended in 2000 to include a requirement for two scorers.
However, I seem to have about an increasing number of instances recently where teams have not provided a scorer - not even a player when their team is batting. There seems to be a growing expectation that they will delay the other scorer at the end of the match so they 'can copy the book up'.
I know of at least one instance where the lone scorer has had to leave promptly at the end of the match - leaving the home side with a problem. How do they notify the correct result to the league with no information.
What are the experiences of other scorers?

I score in the Sydney Cricket Association. If there is only 1 scorer the umpires will ask the captain of the side with out a scorer to have one of their players do it. This problem seems to be only in the lower grades over here.
