What brand/type of hat do member wear whilst umpiring? I currently have a reasonably cheap cream cricket hat to wear and am looking for something a bit sturdier.
I have had a look at the ECBACO shop and the Panama hat they sell only has a 2inch brim which seems a bit on the small side for protection against the sun.
Have also seen the Kalgoorlie hat which appears to be what a number of the ICC umpires wear. Does anyone own this and have any reviews?
Any replies appreciated.
Cheers.

I must say I don't like the ACO and other hats with a logo or something too brilliant white. I live close to what was a very good, old-fashioned, and independent outdoor equipment store - until taken over by Mountain Warehouse recently. I bought a Tilley hat (made in Canada) which isn't cheap but sturdy and fine for all weathers. I had a quick look on the internet and there are quite a few UK stockists - have a look at Cotswold Outdoor who I've never used but their site would give you some idea of the range. I think mine - which is off-white - is probably the T5 Cotton Duck Hat. Hope this helps.

I have the Kalgoorlie and love it. In fact i have just purchased another after about 5 years wear from the original which was getting a bit tatty. i cant fault it. if looking to buy it is worth having a good look at Ebay and hunting around a bit - even waiting a few days , prices seem to vary quite a bit

Several people recommend Kalgoorlie - available by searching on eBay (also Amazon) - small company based in Chester-le-Street.
