I will ask just two questions. 1. How high was the ball struck into the air so that the non striker could run the 18 or so yards before the ball came down within striking distance, and see that it was heading towards the striker's wicket? 2. How far away is the wicket keeper that he could not make good the distance needed to effect a catch, bearing in mind how high the ball must have been hit in the air for your scenario to be realistic? All it needs now is for you to awake from this dream sequence you seem to be trapped in.

In order to make it elaborative I thought of the above example & looking at your response it seems it got too hypothetical. That was not the intention but to get the views where the act of guarding the wicket is done by the non-striker ?
