Advice needed please.
A new points system was introduced at the beginning of this year. The points to be awarded was 30 for a win including bonus points. Unfortunately a mistake was made and 35 points were awarded including for forfeited matches - 35pts was biased against good bowling teams and teams batting first. Results were sent out intermittently during the season.
The system was applied by league committee during the season. Towards the end of the season the race in one division was very close. One team started questioning the 35pt rule. The LC published the final results and one team (team B) lost the division by 3 pts. If 30pts had been applied they would have won by 5pts over team (team A). Team A beat team B in the head to head match. Team B launched a formal query into the results. Finally the LC admitted the mistake the team B. But the executive committee declined to take a vote on it. The result was most unfair on team B because entering the last match of the season they would have had to 'fix' the game in order to stand any chance of achieving 35pts and winning the league. Both teams are promoted to higher division. But for team B it would be their first division title. Team B has threatened to get lawyers involved.
How best to handle this situation now?
Many thanks for your advice.

As an 'impartial' official, forget about it. It has nothing to do with how you umpire a game (or score it for that matter). Leave problems like these to the League to sort out. You've enough to do on the field of play. If you do sort it out for them, I would consider a role in the UN.

You can only go on what the formally approved league rules say - it's far from clear just what that is from the original post. If necessary the league tables should be re-worked to allocate the correct points to each time in accordance with the rules.
Unless actually on the League Committee I'd try to keep a low profile.
Should be an interesting AGM!!!
