2010 MCC Law Books have just arrived at Acumen Books and all outstanding should be despatched Tuesday 28th September 2010.
We understand that Open Learning Manual is nearly ready.
As regards Tom Smith's, Orion advise me that the new edition will not be available until they have sold the remaining stocks of the present edition. I have told them that no-one will wish to buy the out-of-date edition.
Stock-taking bargains extended to 31oct10.

Just heard from Orion, the revised Tom Smith's are definitely scheduled for April 2011 - after the training season!
Please let me know if you want any of the present edition ASAP.
It might be possible to put a precis of the significant changes with it. MCC have published one but it does include the amended grammar etc. If anyone has done a shorter one, please let me know.

In the MCC videos Law 19.4 Ball Beyond the Boundary. The first example shown is the Sri Lankan fielder diving into the air and knocking the ball back into the field of play. Under the new law is this ok or should it be signalled six ?

the only problem you have with that one is- where were his feet last placed before the jump? If they were within the field of play, then it should be legal, so long as he does not remain in contact with the ball, and then ground part of his person outside or touching the boundary. If he did the latter a boundary 6 should result.

Latest news is that MCC have exclusive selling rights for eight weeks before releasing Tom Smith to normal trade outlets. This is the reason for deferring the publication date.
County ACOs are being given the opportunity to place ONE combined order each at £11.75 per copy but these must be prepaid by early May with uncertainty over exact delivery dates.
Delivery will be to a central point and local distribution is responsibility of County ACO. Postage on one copy may well exceed £3.00.
Acumen may eventually be able to beat delivered prices but not the monopoly date. Orders already placed can be cancelled but suggest waiting until you actually get a copy in your hands.
Still waiting news of Open Learning Manual.

As at 20th April, MCC are now expecting Tom Smith's in early June and Acumen can make arrangements at a price yet to be agreed.
Once the book is released to the trade in late July, prices will almost certainly be cheaper - watch this space.
Acumen's price will always include postage to home address unlike ACO's whereby customers will have to arrange with their County for delivery or collection.
Anyone who has placed a provisional order with Acumen will be offered the alternatives of early delivery, later delivery at a lower price or cancellation.
