What is difference between "Out" and "Dismissed" ? No major difference. Out is Out caught, bowled etc. and dismissed is an explanation ie. the batsman was dismissed for 22? The batsman was dismissed at 11.35?

an umpire can only 'dismiss' a batsman 10 ways but he can be recorded out 11 ways. The 11 th way is Retired Out. Is it not?

Wow, this is an old thread you're reviving.
My understanding is that a batsman can be dismissed in 10 ways (bowled, caught, lbw, stumped, run-out, hit-wicket, obstructed the field, handled the ball, hit the ball twice, timed-out) but if the batsman retires out (different from 'retired hurt' (not out)) he is not dismissed.
I don't claim to be certain on this, but I'm pretty sure it's right.
