The ECBACO website News contains a new message which includes a deadline for transferring membership from ACUS. The full text is below: exciting time??? I'm still waiting for my membership pack which on 19 March was " 'approved' & would be sent for processing in this weeks batch with membership card etc going out in the following fortnight." Edit 2 - 11/4/08 7:00 am I now see that a letter dated 12 March (but received a week or so after the phone message on 19 March) says that for members transferring from ACUS membership packs would be sent out after the transfer of the subscription to ECB had been done. So we'll all have to wait until the ACUS funds are transferred!

I'm extremely annoyed at STILL not having received my membership card and pack; in fact I may just phone the ECB again.
At least I have had a letter confirming my insurance though.

Exciting??? Who are they kidding, I joined in 2006 and still have nothing other than a letter welcoming me. Still no membership card or information pack. Membership cards were (I was informed) weeks away in 2006? Two years later and still no membership material? I do however have a membership number! so I am slightly more assured of having insurance than most. But as I keep saying "what a farce this is".

I have a membership number and a letter saying that I am insured, I didn't get the April Newsletter and I haven't got my card. I phoned yesterday to be told that my sub has not been received from ACU&S direct debit paid 2/11/07, I am now beyond the deadline and unless it transpires that ECB are at fault I have a problem. They admit that they have a direct debit mandate, if they didn't get a transfer why not take the direct debit? It all smacks of organising and brewery trips to me! Update 26/06/08, they now acknowledge receipt from ACU&S and having checked bank statements they also collected £20 on 18/05/08. It beats me how having taken the direct debit I was told that I hadn't paid. Still no membership card!

Graham
Have you checked your bank statements to ensure that the DD was actually taken on 2 November 2007? I know that, in the past, DDs (including mine on one occasion!) have been rejected by the banking system for no apparent reason. In previous years Regional Finance Officers were given a list of the failed DDs in their area to chase up manual payments. In 2007 this did not happen.

On 21 May 2008, John Rushton sent a note to all Regional Finance Officers in which he stated:-
"Winding-up the affais of the Association is approaching the final stages, consequently it is now possible to commence the process of re-paying subscriptions to those ACU&S members who did not transfer to ECB ACO. The instruction is primarily in respect of those ACU&S members who paid either by cash or cheque through their RFO."
He went on to seek the assistance of the RFOs in providing a list of cash/cheque payers in their region. A cheque for the total sum due will be issued the RFO plus £0.35 to "defray the cost of posting."
It seems that we are getting closer to getting the repayments out.
