Our Cornwall ACO operates the system whereby if you do not have ECB Insurance, you may not Umpire in ECB or Panel or any other match for which CACO members are nominated. - since I , by choice, am not an ECB member (ACUS Qualified), I am therefore not eligible to Umpire any of those matches. I would be glad to hear how other County ACOs operate those matches. You may prefer to email me privately at murrayhope@yahoo.co.uk
thank you, Murray

I believe that you need to be a member of ECB ACO to umpire any game that is ECB organised. That includes the ECB Premier League, in our case that's the Sussex Cricket League, and any competition for which the umpires are appointed by the County ACO Appointments Officer on behalf of the County Board. In Sussex, that includes all County matches involving juniors, women, and Over 60s, various schools' Kwik Cricket competitions, and a large number of Area games where juniors from the four quarters of the County get together to fight for a place in the County squad.
If you can find other games to umpire, and a decent insurance policy, and you're CRB checked, then I don't see why you shouldn't carry on as you are.

Thanks for that Swerveman, I hope to hear from other Counties. I understand that some of them operate their own Insurance policies. I have heard from the ECB camp and their party line, about the Matches that they own, but understand that some Counties have more flexible arrangements with them than the standard formula and would like to hear more about them.
