. These are only the changed limits. All the others remain the same as per last year. Also note there is also a restriction on how many overs can be bowled in a SEVEN day period. See the new Fast Bowling Directive Cards. You need to be on the ball with this as on frequent occasions young bowlers will have played a match in the morning then turn up for the one you are officiating in in the afternoon. So assuming you have a U15 fast bowler who bowled 10 overs in the morning. His coach should then be aware he can only bowl TWO in the afternoon and should advise you accordingly. Also this trips us up on odd occasions "A bowler can change ends without ending his current spell provided that he bowls the next over that he legally can from the other end. If this does not happen his spell is deemed to be concluded".

... Also note there is also a restriction on how many overs can be bowled in a SEVEN day period. See the new Fast Bowling Directive Cards. Don't know how we'll police this - many skippers (and a lot of the youngsters) won't have the faintest idea how many they've bowled the previous day let alone the previous 6! Good point John - but often this will be a different team and captain/manager and they won't know. To enforce it you'll have to ask some questions, with the starting point being "did any of your young players play earlier in the day?". Maybe - but I think the rules about interruptions either side of 40 minutes are even more esoteric! Fortunately they don't crop up very often! Finally there's the need to keep a record of overs for all young bowlers - just in case they decide to bowl fast after a few overs of spin.

I think we Umps may be let off on the '7 day period' part..... it is a guide/recommendation..... not part of the Directive as such.
Hence I'd have thought it'd be up to each young bowlers coach/manager to adopt/ignore?
Still, would be a good thing to drop into the prematch Captains briefing if agegroup bowlers are declared/nominated.

Has anyone actually seen the new "Directive"? The ECB Website link goes to something that looks like an announcement, and it confusingly talks about a Directive in one place and "Guidelines" in others. I guess that I must be missing something somewhere!

Yes, they were giving away copies of the new cards at the ECBACO conference.
The wording below the new charts is pretty much (if not exactly) the same as before.
