Had an interesting experience yesterday. After tea with the sun (yes indeed we had some sun) going down, someone in a garden adjacent to the ground lit a bonfire.
The smoke (not too thick) started drifting across in the field front of one of the sight screens making it very difficult particularly for the batsman.
We struggled on for a while as due to a damp track the ball was not lifting very high. Fortunately within approximately 5 minutes the wind got up a bit and changed the direction of the smoke.
The players did look concerned as my colleague and I met to discuss the “weather”.
Anyone else had anything similar?

Ha! How strange...
Did the batsmen openly grumble about it?
I suppose if you took them off then the person who lit the bonfire wouldn't be very popular!
Still, why on earth would anyone have a fire on a bright summer's day. I've never understood that...

Yes one of the batsman was complaining.
I was more worried bout explaining why my clothes smelt of smoke when I got home after being out all day.
