I have just had confirmation that there will be a completely new little blue book at the same price as the old one (£3 RRP + p&p) but no date. Please email office@acumenbooks.co.uk?subject=Want_Laws_2013 with your requirements so that I can plan ahead. Still not sure of publication date.
No news about Tom Smith's yet.
The main changes are - in very brief outlines:
1. Steven Finn No ball for bowler breaking wicket during delivery
2. Practice on the field – the Law introduced a couple of years ago about the bowling warming up by bowling the ball to a colleague – has been withdrawn.
3. ……..ditto……………… - a new part has been added to deal with the situation where a batsman contravenes the Law
4. Hit the ball twice – no runs can now be scored – except Penalties. Same procedure to be adopted as for illegal leg byes
5. Handled the ball – this only applies whilst the striker is playing the ball. Any handling of ball after that is now Obstructing the field

We will still supply to customers ordering single copies but are unable to supply free with bulk orders placed after 5th November.
For large customers, we can supply but need to charge 10p per cover in order to ration them. Please indicate how many ciovers you would like to purchase when asking for a quote.

Has anyone looked at Tom Smith and compiled a page (or two) indicating what needs to be crossed out or pasted in?

Tom Smith AmendmentsTrevor Woodage of West Surrey ACU&S has kindly worked out the amendments needed to bring the 2011 Edition of Tom Smith's Cricket Umpiring and Scoring into line with 2013 MCC Law changes. It can be downloaded in Word format from www.wsacus.co.uk/documents/2013_TomSmith_update_inserts.doc - you can cut and paste these in. There are a number of other useful links on their website www.wsacus.co.uk/links.htm#docsThank you to Trevor Woodage and West Surrey ACU&S

Law Changes 2015
Acumen now has stocks of September 2015 Blue MCC Law Books - at unchanged price.
Law Changes 2017
We are pleased Mark Williams is consulting recreational umpires over the proposed changes to MCC Law in 2017.
FUTURE of TOM SMITH ??
However we are very concerned about the proposal to convert Tom Smith to loose leaf online only version. Have you used the existing MCC Open Learning Manual, which is in loose leaf online format? I suspect this has not proved popular and I can think of no reason why Tom Smith would not suffer the same fate.
Surely it would be better to promote the OLM and revert Tom Smith back to the pre-2000 pocket size book at a modest price.
DO YOU AGREE?
