SECOND NEW BOOK ‘From Loft to Lord’s: a Scorer’s Odyssey’ is a humorous book about my own personal odyssey as a cricket scorer, from the rickety loft above the changing rooms in the pavilion at Sprotbrough C.C. to the hallowed halls of Lord's. Here is an extract from the blurb:- ‘If you enjoy funny, real-life stories, then you’ll love this book. It takes you into the unpredictable and unsung world of the cricket scorer, giving a unique, behind-the-scenes glimpse of what goes on in and around the scorebox. As you journey with our intrepid scorer, prepare to: meet D.B., Lady Hamilton, Clarissa, Mavis, Sid, Charles, the claustrophobia chorus, the duckbill platypus, coaches, players and umpires, all with hilarious and comical results; discover the joys and trials of scoreboxes and operating scoreboards, eating cricket teas and scoring with players who don’t want to be scoring; be surprised by what scorers have to do, where they have to score, and what they have to put up with; watch out for grinning pigs flying low over scoreboxes, and a cameo appearance by Sachin Tendulkar; laugh out loud at the mishaps, conversations and situations which our resourceful scorer encounters as his odyssey unfolds. Written in a brilliantly descriptive way, with exceptionally dry wit, a sharp eye for detail and engaging anecdotes, this book provides a charming, informative and highly amusing read.’ All the incidents in the book are based on events that actually happened to me! Ken Piesse tells me that he has a new book which "is proving very popular is NO DAZZLING DEEDS WITH BAT OR BALL, a centenary history of the NSW Cricket Umpires & Scorers Association by David Jenkins & Ronald Cardwell, with a foreword by Brian Booth "It is a lovely 500 page hardback and contains anecdotes, memories and reminisces from the men with the best seat in the house… there are also more than 200 photos. "It is $75 including post from (him) at cricketbooks.com.au or email (him), kenpiesse@ozemail.com.au" Presumably the price quoted is in AUD and includes Australian postage only. www.cricketbooks.com.au/files/books.php?order=author&Page=111If anyone buys it, we would welcome a review here.

I would ask if the FIRST BOOK has been proof read by anyone who understands English. There are so many errors in the extract shown, I very much doubt it. Not only that, but since MCC are custodians of the laws, who is trying to take over authority for them? and who is going to accept their answers to queries which may be raised.?
