Back when my son was playing U15's I had the funniest thing happen. The opposition had a runner in play. My son who was captain noticed the runner kept creeping forward, so after a chat to the keeper he then brought on a spin bowler. The batter missed the ball, which went to the keeper & the keeper then whipped off the bails & appealed for a run out (the runner was about a metre in front of square leg umpire). In this match we only had dad's umpiring. The umpire at square leg said not out as the batter was still in his crease. But when it was pointed out to him by the fielding team & the other umpire that the runner (who was still standing in front of square leg) was in front of the crease, the square leg umpire turned to the runner & said sorry lad your out send in another runner! Eventually sanity prevailed & the batter & runner both left the field.
