Does anyone know the reason behind the new fashion for the non-striker's umpire in the professional game to stand so far behind square? I assume it's to get out of the way of the run out camera?

I presume you mean striker's end umpire. Non striker's end is better known as bowler's end umpire.

Same principle applies at the bowler's end - umpires are trained not to get precisely square on, but to leave a view for the camera.

Makes you wonder what reduction in salary ICC and professional umpires accepted knowing they don't have to worry about stumpings, run outs and front foot no balls any more.
