At the interval on 7th October 2007 in Sunday's England ODI versus Sri Lanka, Charles Colville interviewed Mike Gatting, who has taken on one of the latest jobs created by the ECB. CC probed MG for a clear definition of his new role, with limited success...... imo he'll be another middleman trying to root structure between the ECB and everyone else, First Class Counties, Minor Counties, Premier Leagues, Womens, et al. Anyway, back to this thread......... Umpiring was mentioned and MG said that the ECB were in the process of 'taking under their wing some other organisation' or words to that effect! Gave me the impression that he didn't know ACUS's name....... and that its virtually a done deal. Anyone else see it?......

Do umpires want to be dictated to by Mike Gatting?
Has he taken an ACU&S course or exam?
Does he know what the "C" stands for?
Was anyone from ACU&S invited to this press briefing?
